It has been like pulling teeth!

Being back in Washington has been interesting for us. It has been a time to get some things repaired in the motor home. We have a new faucet in the kitchen that does not leak like the old one. We have new fire alarms. A long blown fuse has been repaired on the Jeep. The towing gear for the Jeep has been repaired and rebuilt after a ground strike coming out of a parking lot. There is always something that needs fixing!

We both have had medical and dental appointments. My dentist has been after me for years to have my wisdom teeth pulled. This time I decided to comply. The oral surgeon removed four wisdom teeth in about one hours time. I now have a sore mouth but healing is underway. I decided it was time as wisdom seems to have moved on or it bypassed me completely. In only two years time I should be completely healed!

We have made several trips into the big city, Seattle that is. We have usually driven one way and returned via ferry. I think we have been on six trips across the Sound now. It takes us an hour to get home (remember home is where we park the motor home!) and it is a chance to relax and enjoy the lights.

One evening while waiting for our ferry to arrive we saw a flock of sea gulls in a feeding frenzy near the ferry dock. On closer inspection they were attracted to at least two harbor seals that had a school of fairly good sized fish around them and every few seconds a seal would appear on the surface with a fish. The seal would then violently swing its head from side to side slapping the water with the fish, stunning it. Then the seal would release the fish and come at it head on and swallow it head first. I must have seen fifteen or so fish go down this way before the seals abruptly broke off and swam away. The gulls apparently were getting lots of scraps. The water front is an interesting place!

We both know Ann Baxter who told me about your Blog. My husband, David, and I, Pat, are doing the same as you: RVing around the country. It is strange you live in Port Orchard. That is where my son and family live - really Olalla, but close enough. We just left there. Maybe we could meet somewhere on our travels. I have enjoyed your Blog.
