What is that noise?

Listen...do you hear it? It stopped, no, there it is again. What is it?

Ah, one of the "hazards" of living on the road. We have had a few anxious moments during our travels. The latest is a whining that started and became more and more incessant. We extended our one night in Sudbury, Ontario and found a truck repair shop that agreed to look at our motor home.."tomorrow". Well, today was "tomorrow" and we found that our engine belt needs to be replaced and our air conditioner automatic clutch is where all the noise was coming from. The bearings are failing and it needs to be replaced. Not such a big deal except no one has the needed part. We were told it had to be ordered out of the "States" and it would take a week because it would have to go through customs. Are you kidding me? Fortunately the Parts Manager found what we needed in Montreal which means it already is in Canada. I tried to get the part air freighted overnight but they looked at me like I was from Mars. No, it will be put on a truck and might get here Friday, that is if they use the right freight company. We did get an oil change out of our time in the shop today and the old belt and the squeal are still with us as we came back to our RV park for at least two more days Don't know why these failures can't be scheduled!

Tomorrow we will explore a nickel mine or something like that. Sudbury is the largest supplier of nickel in the world. Some think it was due to the impact in this area with an asteroid at some time in our distant past. We don't want that sort of thing to happen today. It's a heck of a way to jump start the local economy!
