The Roxy Cafe

We have spent awhile in Jackson and have enjoyed the Elks RV park. We have had a full service site and a nice park with exceedingly nice hosts, John and Sandy. We have traveled up and down North West Avenue many times and at the corner of North West and Ganson is The Roxy Cafe. Each time we passed it we wondered about it and what sort of place it might be. While talking with cousin Daci over ice cream at The Parlour, we were told that The Roxy 1s a great place to have breakfast. Since I am a big breakfast fan, we headed for The Roxy at our first opportunity. Oh, I wish we had discovered it earlier in the summer!

The Roxy could be best described as eclectic. It has crowded tables and a counter with bar stools. The walls and ceilings are adorned with all sorts of posters and memorabilia. Anne pointed to one panel on the ceiling that read, "For a Good Time Call Mary or Sarah at 788-7766 After 2:00 P.M.". She wouldn't let me write down the number! One of the signs that I really enjoyed was, "You Don't Need Reservations to Eat Here. If You Have Reservations, You Should Eat Somewhere Else!". The restaurant is a great place to people watch and the clientele is a mixed group but you quickly see many of them are regulars. They know when they have found a pearl.
There are sidewalk tables with umbrellas as well as inside seating. There is a door in the back as well as the main door in the front. Some of the regulars enter though the back door, go through the kitchen into the eating area. Everyone feels right at home.
The menu is rather extensive for such a small place and the portions we saw were ample and the food is GOOD. I had corned beef hash, one of my favorites, and it did not come out of a can! It was full of large chucks of beef and was one of the best hashes I have had. Anne had eggs and ham and raisin toast and it was excellent. Every dish we saw served looked great. The Roxy may not be the best breakfast in Jackson but it is well ahead of which ever one is in second place!
The next time you are looking for breakfast in Jackson, remember The Roxy Cafe. Try it, you'll like it!
