We had a rest day out side of St. Louis and intended to see the sights. As luck would have it we spent our time getting our roof repaired. We were referred to a great RV repair facility in Union, Missouri and they were able to work on our rig immediately. All the fasteners making our front cap-roof splice had failed or pulled out of the structural splice member. This splice is directly over the driver and passenger seats. When it rained, it poured! We now have twice as many fasteners and they are longer so they won't easily pull out this time. The splice has been resealed and we had our first wet test as we experienced our second thunderstorm of the trip today and not a drop came inside! Thanks 3R RV!
We had a leisurely morning and left mid morning and drove from St. Louis towards Cincinnati. We have a few days before arriving in Michigan and are trying to find places that can accommodate us. Everywhere we go the parks are sold out for the Memorial Day weekend. We lucked out tonight at West Boggs Park in Loogootee, Indiana (no, I am not making this up). We can stay tonight but not tomorrow! This is a beautiful park located on a large gorgeous lake. We had dinner at the local restaurant that advertised Amish cooking. Well, the verdict was "those folks know how to cook!" Everything was a good as you can remember grandma making!
As I type the weather has caught up with us and we are experiencing yet another thunderstorm. Lightning flashes and peals of thunder are frequent and the rain is pelting our house on wheels. Hopefully we will stay warm, dry and upright! We have already had the power go off for a few minutes and expect it to do so again. Too bad I can't record the din the rain is making on our roof! Bye for now...
